Redesigned and Ready to Make an Impression: The 2016 Altima
Safety and function are two things most drivers don’t want to compromise – and they don't have to. The 2016 Nissan Altima has added several safety features to the standard equipment on the 2016 Altima and brought it up to speed on the new Nissan look. With the addition of the SR sports model, the Altima has officially stepped up its game.
The 2016 Altima has made safety a priority with its mid-cycle redesign. Blind spot monitors1 are now standard on all seven models, as well as the rear-cross traffic alert2. The optional technology package offers even more to keep you and the ones you love safe with adaptive cruise control and forward emergency braking3, which nicely complements the lane-departure warning and moving-object detection4. And yet, there’s still more. Nissan’s Predictive Forward Collision Warning5 is truly something special because, not only does it ascertain where the vehicle ahead of you is, it looks two cars ahead to prevent collisions.
Clearly, the 2016 Nissan Altima is all that and a bag of chips when it comes to safety, but what about style and function? How’s the gas mileage? The Altima gives hybrids a run for their money with 39 MPG6 on the highway and 27 MPG7 in the city. The extra mile per gallon in the 2016 can be attributed to the slick new styling that distinguishes it as the latest Nissan model. A new fascia, v-shaped grill, and boomerang-shaped headlights will make this vehicle stand out wherever you’re cruising.
What everyone’s been waiting for is the Altima SR, though, right? The new sport model gets some distinguishing features to make sure it gets the appreciation it deserves. Smoked headlight housings, a rear spoiler, fog lights and 18-inch wheels round out the visual changes but, unlike the other models, the SR gets more than a superficial redesign. The CVT gets a pseudo manumatic mode with shift paddles and a stepped ratio. The dampers are retuned and there are thicker anti-roll bars in the front and back to reduce body roll by up to 20%8, aka more safety.
The 2016 Nissan Altima for sale near St. Charles, IL, has undergone a massive transformation, one that makes the Maxima proud to claim the Altima as its mini-me. See the redesign for yourself at 945 East Chicago Street in Elgin at McGrath Nissan.
